Soccer is an all-weather sport. We play in rain and cold and wind. We do not play when there is danger to the children or spectators or when we may cause extensive damage to the fields. If there is lightning in the area we will cancel matches or suspend matches that have already begun. If a recreational match is suspended due to weather, if it has advanced past half time the match will be considered complete with the final score recorded as of the match suspension. If a match is suspended prior to half time, the match will be replayed in its entirety.
In the event of inclement conditions, club officials will evaluate field conditions and the weather forecasts to make a determination at the earliest practical time. Games are always to be played as scheduled unless the fields are closed. Once a determination is made to close fields, the information will be added to the Atlanta Fire United answering service greeting and whenever possible to the website. Atlanta Fire United will also endeavor to send an email to coaches, team managers, and members notifying them of field closures. Try the website first.
Teams are encouraged to have a single person responsible for calling the answering service at 770-271-4525 about cancellations so that the system will not be over loaded with too many calls.
Once a match is rained-out, Atlanta Fire United will endeavor to reschedule recreational matches on subsequent Sundays as field space allows. New game times will be posted on the website, on the bulletin board at George Pierce Park and coaches will receive an email notifying them of the new game times. U6 & U5 matches will generally not be rescheduled unless the number of matches falls below 8 for the season. U7 & above will be rescheduled unless time & field space limitations make it impractical.
Atlanta Fire United will try to give every recreational team a minimum of eight matches.
