Tampa, Fla. - United Soccer League has announced the first 11 top ranked clubs and teams in the country for the Super Y League and Atlanta Fire United Soccer is Ranked #6 in the Country.
"What an honor, says Mark MacKain, AFU’s Super Y Director. We have been in the USL for 6 years enjoying progress each year but I never thought we could reach the top 10 in such a short period of time. The 4 teams we are sending to Nationals are the most we have ever sent, the program has committed $4,000 towards their travel and the program runs itself with no financial assistance from the Club. Add to it that 90% of our players came through our Recreational, Academy and Select systems and I would consider this a real feather in AFU’s cap. Congratulations to Darren McKune, Mirza Mustafic, Raul Diaz Arce , Denny Jenkins and Nathan Borror for their tireless training efforts in getting these kids to the SYL Finals."
Super Y is an elite summer league for both boys and girls, a professional system that is the first step for developing youth soccer players in North America, as well as an avenue for players to be scouted for US National Teams. Super Y league nears 780 teams from U14-U19 boys and girls that will compete for a league title. These top ranked clubs achieve this status through a system that evaluates both competition and administrative strengths. The club has four teams participating in the Super Y National Championships being held December 2-6 in Tampa, Fla.
