Craig Peter and Mirza Mustafic attend ECNL Coaching Course in Spain

Mirza Mustafic (AFU DOC): "The two courses provided in depth information about how soccer tactics are seen by one of the most prominent soccer educators, Raymond Verheijen, as well as a detailed outline of the methodology which is used by Valencia C.F academy. It was very interesting to see the work of an academy that has produced world class players such as David Silva (Manchester City) and Isco (Real Madrid). At Atlanta Fire United, our main goal is to improve our players with excellent training and a style of play that is geared towards player development. To accomplish this, our coaches must stay current with the ever changing demands of the beautiful game. We will take the lessons learned and look to implement them into our clubs system and curriculum".

The ECNL International Coaching Program is another expansion in the league’s commitment to develop better coaches in order to help develop better players.

The World Football Academy Course included lectures in Football Theory, Football Tactics, Coaching Decision making, Coaching Execution of Technique and Coaching Football Fitness.

The Valencia CF course included an Overview of the Valencia CF Academy and it’s Long Term Player Development Model. Coaches were also able to interact and learn from the Valencia CF coaching staff, as well as observe their youth teams in training and games.

The technical proficiency of the youth in Spain was impressive to witness.
AFU is committed to raising the coaching level of its staff in order to provide a more educated coaching staff for all AFU players.
