Grade 08 Entry Class

Fee is $90.  It has two parts, an online session and a classroom/field session that focuses on how to officiate. Both sessions are required. The online session must be done first and can be done at any time. Allow 2 - 6 hours to complete. Register for a class, then log in and begin the Session Tracker. Follow the directions on the screen. The first section is online learning, which is a review of the Laws of the Game. The second is an online test, which you can take with or without a copy of the LOTG. It is almost entirely on the restarts -- what is the restart after play is stopped and when is the ball in play at each restart. Then attend the class. There will be low-intensity field work at the class, so dress appropriately. As a Grade 8 referee you will be eligible to referee all ages based on your age. U-14 and younger recreational games, and be an assistant referee on U-14 recreational and select games.

Annual Recertification Classes
Every referee is required to take a recertification class for each registration year. The registration year runs from January 1 to December 31.  Recert classes for the following year will be scheduled prior to the start of the fall season.   This insures that all referees

Want To Become A Referee?

Atlanta Fire United Soccer Association needs referees for the upcoming fall soccer season. Refereeing is a great way to support the league, while earning money at the same time. If you are interested in becoming a referee, you must first attend and pass a R9 Entry level referee course.  The course consists of a 2 hour online session and an 8 hour classroom session. Classes will be offered throughout the summer at various location around the state and in your local area.

Atlanta Fire United Soccer Association will be hosting an Entry level referee course during the summer for the upcoming Fall soccer season.  However, there will be new referee R9 entry level courses offered by the state and hosted by other local soccer associations. To enroll in one of the courses:

1.     Go to www.gareferees.com
2.     Click on “Sign up for classes”
3.     Click on “Entry Course R9”
4.     Choose a class that is convenient for you 
5.     Click on the date of that course for location information and follow the instructions for online enrollment

R9 entry course:
for ages 9 to 14 year olds


R8 entry course:
for ages 15 and over

The Referee Course consists of 2 online sessions and a 9 hour classroom session.
Classes are offered twice per year at various locations by the Referee Dept.
